Foreign Minister Tuomioja will visit France and Algeria

Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja will make a visit to France on Monday, 17 February. In Paris, Tuomioja will have bilateral talks with French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius. The topics of discussion are, among others, Ukraine and the Eastern Partnership, the situation in North Africa, the Central African Republic and climate issues.

The Foreign Minister will also meet with Bruno Le Roux, leader of the Socialist Party in the National Assembly. In addition, Tuomioja will take part in the European Social Democrats’ seminar, the theme of which is the EU Common Security and Defence Policy.

Foreign Minister Tuomioja will visit Algeria on Tuesday and Wednesday, 18–19 February. In Algeria, Tuomioja will meet among others with Minister of Foreign Affairs Ramtane Lamamra. The two will have discussions on high-level political dialogue relating to topical international and regional issues.

Trade and economic relations between Finland and Algeria are also on the agenda of other meetings. Finnish exports to Algeria have been increasing strongly in recent years. The value of exports is thought to have exceeded the level of 200 million euros for the first time last year.
